i dont care who does/doesnt pirate things.
what bothers me is people not keeping it to themselves, especially in an open forum where sony, for instance could look and say that this site is a hangout for pirates etc and try some stupid legal BS against it. would you go to a doctors forum medical section and ask how to administer rohypnol best as your going on a date later? after all its a drug right? for me the same principle applies to sites such as this in the hacking scene if your going to pirate, you have nothing to gain by spreading the news around freely that you are. it only brings attention on you/us. im not saying that i have or have not pirated but if i had i wouldnt go around labelling myself. my opinion of piracy is that if something is good and you are happy with it, then buy it. even if it means waiting til the prices come down. the 3 main things that i personally do not see as bad piracy are; 1. games for consoles/systems that are now discontinued like psx, dreamcast, nes etc 2. tv shows and movies that have aired on tv already 3. downloading games which you have previously payed for. its not a lost sale if you already bought it new and for me just equals a backup the thing i see as bad piracy is just downloading without the intention of ever buying it anyway. it is blatanty stealing and nobody can honestly disagree

I can buy games real cheap at the weekend market. $30 new releases. $15-$5 pre 3.55 games. It is mostly vanity. I have a bookshelf with about 50+ games and I want more. I do pirate, but I do buy the games I like. Not because of any moral code. Just so when people come over they are like holy **** !

Let's start about the moral question:
Will you "pirate" also if you have money enough to buy the software/music/movies/games/whatever original? I ask this because I have pirated also in my young days. Not anymore because I have more money to spend, but i can imagine people with less money have no other choice if they want to keep up and want to enjoy their expensive system. And i don't think it will hurt the industry. People can only spend a dollar/euro/yen/whatever once. If they don't have enough money to buy food they will never buy the original software because they will never have money for it. The developers don't lose money, only one more person is using it without the developers knowing.

First let me answer the questions in a very rude way and lets see what happens:
So the question, do you believe piracy is OK on the PS3? Of course it is OK! Just because Sony and Microsoft suck at making consoles doesn't mean everyone else does. The devs who make games for the consoles work their ass' off making games for us (DICE) and all we do is copy and paste a couple of links, click download, extract, and than transfer to the PS3? It is not the devs fault, it is Sony and Microsoft's fault because they don't know how to make a console which stops piracy. We are in a generation where companies act like they don't know anything and don't want to waste money making their consoles condemn to piracy. Others try but don't have enough money. Sony and Microsoft are like billionare type companies, these guys have money to use as toilet water, so why not use it to make a console which is not even OPENABLE with a screw driver. What is the fine line between piracy and non piracy? Piracy = For people who don't want to waste money on poorly made games/who want to test games/who want to get games because everyone else has it but they don't really like it/people who feel like it Non Piracy = For people who are rich/who want to play online/who want to play games without any problems the jailbreaked consoles get into If you download files illegally, why do you do it? Why shouldn't you do it? I do it because it is fun clicking on buttons! I shouldn't do it because it is illegal and out of the millions who do, the government is going to find me because they don't have better things to do like keep the government computers safe from Wiki leaks and other hackers.

Yeah, it's cool and all but what about when you're not able to buy games?
For example, in the situation I am right now, I can't afford from my own money (the 10 bucks I have there just in case) or have like my mom buy me a game cause it'd be impossible to even negotiate that with her. So from the dozens of games I've played since I've had the console, I wouldn't have never played them if I wasn't downloading them.

I for one support people downloading games to sample and if that game is good then supporting the developers. Many of the large video game companies do not feel the sting of piracy, they often get large tax breaks that make even oil companies jealous not to mention loyal fanboy support. Some indie developers even release their games to known piracy sites such as pirate bay. The game "No Time To Explain " was released that way with modified files leading to pirate hats and theme.
What I do not support is mass leeching just to build a collection of free games and the greater evil of the guy who sells pirated games/software
