This thread explains all PS3 COD4 online issues.
Contacted activision again today, and i actually got through to someone helpful.(OMG!)
They explained that the US versions have already been patched, because the SCEA operates faster than the SCEE and SCEJ. This results in the same way as trying to play a patched PC game against an Unpatched one(read : faliure). So stop twiddling with your routers, as soon as SCEE approves the patch Worldwide play will resume. ** SCEJ got patch yesterday, seems europe is slower than japan in patches too. So US -> Japan play is now fixed. ETA for european release: Feb 10th.

FINALLY!!!! i guess we are the first to get new patches then ( sucks a bit ) but yes!! i can see how booster plays and the UK side of the clan

i haven't managed to connect to any game i've been invited into. by either booster or west, and i'm in the UK. i get get "connection error" or "server full" errors. it's a sad staight of affears for a top game really
