Mirrors: Linux 2.6 kernel?
Hey guys
I'm hoping someone can point me to a mirror of a recent Linux 2.6 kernel for the PS3? or even an efficient way to get the files off of foxbrew.org? gitbrew has been down for days. The only active mirror I can find is foxbrew.org (which isn't working with "git clone" and I really don't have the time/patience to download each file individually via the web server). |

http://gitbrew.org/~glevand/ps3/linux/ (isn't down for me ...)
There is the latest kernel (ps3linux_kernel_latest.tar.gz) available ![]() Don't ask me about the 2 rsx files added today... No idea what they are for and no time to investigate them....

Thanks OoZic, I missed that link in my searches. its the git that is down... keep getting that damn nyan cat!
![]() Just finished downloading. I'm new to linux so was using the Nikitis PS3-Debian-Installer script which crashed at the git clone linux-2.6 step. Figure I just need to install the kernel to finish off installation, but have no idea how to do that with a compiled kernel yet. Still learning rapidly but must say I'm getting hooked to linux already! |

http://www.ps3hax.net/2011/09/red-ri...x-rc5-for-ps3/ http://sourceforge.net/userapps/medi...itle=Main_Page It is fast, small, specially made (including graf his kernel) for the ps3 and can be updated through the internet. I think it is the best distro for beginners, also because it works almost the same as Ubuntu....

I'll give Red Ribbon a try if Debian becomes a problem. Debian is booting now and is running a basic Asterisk PBX setup
![]() To install precompiled kernel, it was needed to extract the kernel into the root folder and edit /etc/kboot.conf to point to /boot/vmlinux-2.6-x. |

Most beginning users don't even know how to extract the kernel or edit the kboot.conf and are to lazy to search the net
