okay I got ylod from overheating the ps3 was laying down..a few days later my step dads ps3 got ylod and his was standing up,
then my friend got it too.... all in about two weeks I knew of 3 ylod's
all broke during DVD playback or playing cod

this can be a good start, it may lead to determine at least one or two statistically right causes of YLOD, so here is what you need:
CECHG04
B,no ylod
lifespan 4 years and 1 month before changing thermal compound
B, mostly vertically placed
B,moderate playing
A,generally ambient, above ambient in summer
B, not in a well ventilated place, still it was not in a closet
on latest rebug FW right now
