Ok people need to start using the word piracy correctly, Piracy refers to an illegal act.
eg: Owning a copy of protected media without owning the orignal, Knowingly distributing copy protected media, Lending your mate any digital media even if they're orignals or copys, Tampering with copy protected media. This is in the UK, I'm not sure about any other countrys law. (Check out the laws for your own country). In the uk were allowed to make and use a copy of any protected media providing we own the originals, THIS IS NOT PIRACY AND IT SHOULD'NT BE REFERRED TO AS SUCH. CHECK IT OUT FOR YOUR SELFS IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME. |

It's very telling the way piracy related information never gets trolled to the same degree as things which mainly interest developers, legit users and non-pirates.
I too am in favour of freedom. Freedom enables us to do with our devices what we wish and unfortunately usually comes at the expense of permitting piracy. That said I've previously bought games which I could *only* play by backing up the disk and performing various fixes (eboot replacements, installing various pkg updates etc) to run on 3.55fw hence one mustn't simply assume that all who take advantage of such advances are pirates. There will be some who have paid for psn content who are unable to use it. Many thanks to those responsible for one of today's great strides forward. I love this scene! |

nothing against anyone, not trying to make anyone in to pirate also lol,but let us get some facts straight, having jailbreaked ps3 means no psn and no buying those games,so why not use them as long as they are released, and besides that is the fun part in having jailbreked ps3,if anyone really thinks that he should not download those game or any other then i think it should stay on original FW and do all the stuff legit, just sayin.

His point was a small but important distinction, that use of backup copies are not automatically piracy. People often make the jump that downloading = piracy, which is not true if you own the original. At least that's what I think he is saying, since that is the truth. |

The way around it is to declare that you have an original disk, but even then it is Piracy as nowhere in Sonys' TOS (Or UK CopyRight Laws) does it allow for you to share a legal BACKUP with anyone else
