Hi,
Does anyone know a way of disabling Cinavia on the PS3?
A file to delete? Something?

Anyone working on a fix?
When you see it, you'll realise what a **** piece of code this is..

Not that I'm aware of. Stop downloading/buying sh!tty cam copies!
If the audio track is from the wrong source, usually cinema sound, you will have trouble.
If you are downloading (not an accusation) then avoid early releases with outsourced audio tracks. If your buying them, well, your in Bali or being ripped off!

Well, if you must know, its actually a BR-Rip. One I did myself.
And I can assure you it was a fully legit release.
I refuse to watch cam/early releases.
And, FYI - you'll find this in most new BR media so it is rather pertinent.

I heard it has become more frequent these days, the first place such a removal tool will be found is probably doom9 a search like this will probably be able to make you up2date on the topic.

However I believe the simplest way to decipher their watermark is to get a hold of two copies of the audio track one with, one without cinavia and compare the two.

You could try the Showtime Media player for PS3, it should bypass all restrictions, that's of course if your file isn't 720p or 1080p.

I have read much that it is possible rip the watermarks out by down coding the audio, and by a few other similar methods. Where possible, like I said I'd rather remove the functionality from the Ps3, than having to suffer reduced audio/video.
I can play this fine on other devices, which is why I don't want to have to re-rip or stuff around when trans-coding, just for the one device.

And Thanks GregoryRasputin - I'd prefer to keep the resolution high, no point having BR & DVD's if you cant get the most out of them..

That's true, though through time the app will improve and resolutions will get better, perhaps it would be an ideal future app for you

Sorry, hadn't heard of this happening on a legit backup before.
I guess it's more or less the same issue, BR audio from HDD/Server missmatch.

Maybe the BRD emulator we use for games could help here, not sure.

Could this be why some new movies are coming out with a "digital copy"
included in the case? To pass the Cinavia checks?

I could have spent money supporting sony with Blu-Ray purchases,
but the Western Digital TVLive was much better value.

Cinavia was introduced in 3.10 so if you downgrade below I used 3.00 it will be disabled I confirmed with my copy of The Losers it would play for 1/2 an hour and I would lose audio after the downgrade I watched the whole movie with no issues....
