ps3 bricked via overflow tiff :: help
just a minute ago i had a dns server running and by accident i went into a folder with overflow.tiff.my ps3 is bricked!??! and when it boots it's just hangs 3 secs after i went to the XMB. i dunno what to do?? send it to sony? wait for hacks or somethin so i can clear harddrive?? does it read the overflow at startup or is the memory ****ed up?? ![]() nick |

no i didnt. i made a dns server because i wanted to have a custom psn icon. so with html i could watch trough my pc via ps3 and then the image and it just bricked...

When you start the ps3 hold on the power button for five seconds until you hear a double beep.

it sounds like when it copied to your ps3 it saved somewhere, in this case maybe it over writed your PSN icon and when the xmb tries to load the image it crashes your PS3.
you might have to find away to delete it from where it went or maybe try a new PSN icon |

What does that do? Why dont you just erase the HD and then install it into the PS3 using the manual? |

holding the power button for 5 secs. will make a double beep noise, this is what that is for:
it resets the theme makes default startup game-os there are other things too, but those should fix your problem if your ps3 will actually make it to xmb |

that doesnt work... but can i boot directly to linux while default os == game-os?? (i have linux installed)..
i dont know if its the on the harddisk or flash?? if its on flash and i send it to sony will they send it back or destroy my whole console?? or should i just remove the harddisk and replace it,, because the firmware on ps3 is on hdd right??? |

just format your hard drive and it schould be fixed.
