First let me start by saying I am not an expert, like you I have been trawling a lot of forums to get clarification before I install my E3 Flasher (I've had it for a couple of weeks now), I've even emailed E3 directly a few times (and anyone who has done that will know how helpful their single sentence replies to a detailed set of targeted questions are). I like to get all my ducks lined up before I take a shot and reduce the brick risk as much as possible. All going well I will be installing mine this weekend on my CECHK-02 (80gb FAT NOR) console, and I will report back my results. Maybe this will help answer you question (this is from the E3-Tech site): 2011-10-19 Please note after downgrade to 3.55, this 3.55 is a special CFW3.55, you can install any manager you love on this 3.55CFW! 2011-10-25 After you downgrade to 3.55, you can install any .pkf file , you can upgrade to 3.73 by network or USB DISK . But can't install other 3.55.PUP file |

NOTE to E3 Flasher users: Unless you started your downgrades i highly reccomend to set it aside and wait for more detailed guides. E3 team claims there are 3000 of these devices out right now and i managed to find roughly 20 people (including myself) with bricked PS3s in 2 days of search. It might not seem much but it IS a large number of people to be posting about it considering that this is a fairly new item. edit: Here's a little tip from all the info i've seen do not use recovery mode unless you actually bricked a PS3. Somehow lots of people randomly bricked their PS3 by using recovery mode. Last edited by Jitsuryoku; 11-16-2011 at 03:30 PM. |

We tried using alcohol and the foam, but it didn't work, the blue lights are still the only working lights and it still gives the BIOS error. The funny thing is that it's the exact same console as in the video. An CECHH04 console (MGS limited edition), so it should be possible to get working somehow.
We used usual tape to secure the foam on the clip, is that the problem? We didn't have any duct tape or similar to really glue it onto the thing. We also used denatured alcohol as we didn't have any 100% pure isopropyl at the time, even though we do know it leaves a bit fat. The clip is put on down as far as we can see, but it's not that easy to measure. Any other tips to get it working? We've been extremely careful with the softboard so I doubt it is broken. |

And regarding the functioning, it took me several tries to get the clip on correctly, i can tell you that much, it will never work unless you get all the LEDs on. There's no click or something when you put the clip on fully , and it takes a lot of pressure to get it on.

Success!
As promised, after lining up all my ducks, tonight I took a shot - and success!
I used the ChrisTechTV installation method (but with the Khalkedon foam trick): Click here to see full text

@Khalkedon
can you please upload your video tutourial for the slim somewhere else? because we (german) have problems to watch the video because of the music, youtube don't allow us to watch your video! or can you remove the music and upload it a second time? A upload on rapidshare.com for example is also okay

I will upload to Vİmeo.com I dislike youtube but we're forced. I will upload to vimeo.com. Vimeo is perfect but it's not famous like youtube. Please give me 1 or 2 days our country's internet connection very slow for uploads. When I uploading live connection cuts and I try many many times. To upload a bigger size is very difficult to me so I want a little time for this Please be patient... Thanks your interest.

Used your JB/Downgrade method last night using an E3 Card Reader, work perfectly! Just a couple of questions: 1. Can you please upload the homebrew files you used at the end of the video, so far I've got MultiMan 2.09 & Rogero 8.5, but it looks like there's a couple of others I should get? 2. I'm really keen on the dual boot with two hard drives feature that E3 said over a month ago that they would release instructions for in a few days. Despite a few emails going unanswered from them I still think it's possible, but I'd like your feedback on it, what I'm thinking is: a. Do a NOR backup of CFW 3.55 and save to PC b. Repeat JB/Downgrade steps again but this time to OB Flash (switch 5 up) c. First restore OFW 3.73 with 3.73 hard drive and switch 2 down (OFW) d. Second restore CFW 3.55 with 3.55 hd and switch 2 up (CFW) What do you think, will it work, or will I brick? Cheers, Kal |

@Khalkedon
thank you very much, your video is very good for all the newbies out there! i have relink it in my german e3 tutourial that we have complete made new and write it right not how the e3 team made it ![]() one question... have you already try the FUN MODE? normally it is to flash the original dump of my NOR back, but it failed! i have backups for my CFW 3.55 (normal one not by downgrading) tested with the new E3 NOR Dump checker than i change the HDD, format it and updated to OFW 3.73 i backup it also and check the dump with E3 NOR Dump checker, it's all okay! so i have soldered the SBE point and use the FUN MODE to flash my backup back... when i flash the 3.73 backup the ps3 starts and show a message... in german... Starten nicht möglich. Die richtige Festplatte wurde nicht gefunden. in english... start not possible. the correct harddrive was not found. when i flash the 3.55 backup the ps3 doesn't start and the red LED of the power button blink have you try this method? Or have a answer how i can manage this? i can flash perfect the e3_downgrade.bin and my 2 backups (see it in the log) here my logs... https://rapidshare.com/files/4097482...asher_logs.zip here my dump of the 3.73 ofw... https://rapidshare.com/files/3658439079/bkpps3.rar Last edited by TDCroPower2; 11-21-2011 at 07:24 AM. |
