What is the "Install Package File"?
In the XMB under the Settings at the bottom of the list it says "Install Package File" what does that do?

but i guess you are running the first one, its probably to install game demos without having to go to the PSstore (game demos are in PKG file format) so "install package File" must be for installing demos on the hdd. |

if that is what its for could be very usefull ? ive been looking into make retail dumps into pkg's and installing them ? is yours a dev unit ? tell us more ?

Unless you have the ability to sign the files, there's no way we could build a working pkg.

i think this is how ******* have done it apparently ? cos they said its off the hard drive and i compared a pkg and dump of a game they are almost identicle except a few files missing in pkg's ?

The main problem is not extracting them, it's to build the pkg.
Like you said and very well "******* have done it apparently"

There is no way that he has a test unit those are very hard to find and are only availble to authorised devs, so he must have a demo unit, wich is just like a normal one but with a few more options thats all, the diference between a demo and a test unit is huge, with a test unit and some skills we can do almost anything.

Yes I am...
I downloaded a .PKG file from the PSN links and put it from my computer onto a flash disk. I plugged in the flash disk and it started to install it but then gave me the error code 80029564. In the error code list on this forum this means, Downloaded Game will not install - Cause unknown. I tried the above with about 3-5 different .PKG files I will post a pic/video of what it looks like if needed/wanted |
