If Sony had released this in the first place, and given us better (and not removed!) OtherOS, I don't think we'd have ever seen CFW. I highly suspect that this is an attempt to move the homebrew developers away from CFW - but I'm with the "too little too late" comment now.. even if I am considering applying :think:
Edit: Unless they're releasing it now in preparation for the PS4 - get developers used to the SDK now and give the PS4 official homebrew (with an app store) from the beginning. App stores are what all the other devices are doing, and I would not be surprised if Sony want a part of that - and that'll be a good think for the consoles in general I believe. i guess you all missed this part:
"virtual machine" this 'sdk' and openless from Sony is a trick, it is 'limited' system, with not full access to the hardware, your apps will work but they will 'run slower' and 'be less flashly' then official big commerical sdk and direct studio releases. |
