Comes with free 'Kick Ass' Blu-Ray stuck inside. It has Red Flashing light problem where upond powering on "The red power light lights, then flashes (as the unit beeps) before shutting the whole system down automatically."

Do you guys think it's worth a try?

I personally have non had good experiences buying not working units off of ebay. They choose their words carefully so you won't be able to return it. For example I bought a used CECHG01 with no audio. They failed to say it also had no USB recognition and that it would not power down..They did say it powered up though. Turned out to be GLOD. Oh and the BD drive was nonfunctional and it had beat up psu to top it off.

I would say make sure it has a warranty sticker but that isnt even enough these days. I also bought a used CECHA01 with YLOD. Well the advertisement said warranty sticker still intact but when I opened it up parts were missing and there were obvious signs that someone bypassed the void by heating up the sticker. Well that YLOD is the only one that hasnt worked thus far after I reflow.

On top of all this you are not even provided a picture. I wouldnt man personally but then again I got messed over too many times to even consider it again. Once shame on you twice shame on me I guess. I mean you got to think why are they selling it so cheap? How is that price relative to the other units? Why are they selling it so much less? Probably because it is a ps3 built out of nonworking parts. lol. I dont mean to dim your fire and if money is not a concern I say go for it and let us know if Ebay is safe for non working consoles.
Anyone have a similar or better experience?

Ok well it would seem you are correct in your buyer beware scenarios the ps3 arrived today and OMG! not bloody hdd is in it i sent him a nice email requesting it withing 1 week at his expense or it's being reported to the ebay chanel that deals with it.

per say it's not a big deal but item description did not mention it had not hdd. just it was YLOD i have many many spares anyway.

Keep us updated will ya? I was thinking of doing the same thing. I mean $12.50 is nothing for a PS3 coz the HDD is probably still worth more than that!

Ok so Diss- Assembly has been achieved BUT!...
I'm stuck at the following step. (see image below). Being very familiar with electronics i know FORCE = well lest say my vocabulary increases exponentially

I have posted a image 8mb (to keep quality) when trying to remove the heatsink i am getting nowhere as under the silver plate their are screws holding the heatsink in place. unfortunatly the camera cant get them but if you look at the big black case (where fan was) on each corner you will see the areas where the screws are holding it in place from the other side.

<-8mb give time to load.

Any support much appreciated on how to get it off so i can re flow this Bugatti.
Thanks to @KillerBug for his Tutorial

PS3 is 40GB CECHG02. Fatty

Another Image for Good Luck

EDIT: does not matter i hit it with a hair dryer to warm the TP up and vwalla pulled apart like sweet sweet candy.
