Thanks, ended up I had to have the original BD logic board in. Duh, I knew it blackscreens on PSN and homebrew when you don't have the correct board on.

So I did get the qa flag menu up now.

I was just wondering if there is a setting I need to change before I make a qa flag downgrade?

@playerkp420 ..hit the combo buttons on network settings, "debug settings" shows up--enable "System update debug" and go from there..
boot into recovery..install OFW355, boot recovery again, install any 355CFW.

if u perform a real downgrade i guess u need the CFW355-OTHEROS++-SPECIAL.PUP?!

What I did was
1. downgraded to rogero v2 with spoof.
2. toggled qa flag
3. installed OFW 2.30 from recovery,
4. entered factory/service mode with jailbreak jig in left usb and the ps3devusb000 files on flash drive in right usb.
5. drive init ran then the ps3 shut off
6. took out the jig and flash, and played a blu ray,
7. then exit fsm.
8. installed OFW 3.55 from XMB
9. installed Rebug 3.55.2 from recovery.

And it all works great!!! Blu rays and games work.

I had to have the old logic board connected until after I ran toggle qa flag, but before I downgraded to OFW2.30.

I followed your Tut to the letter as mentioned above (however I did not do the NOR tristate soldering) and I used the samsung update.bin refered to in this thread to update the E3 flasher as a result of which i thought the soldering was not required.I was on OFW 4.0,put the 3rd switch up and every other switch down, I put the Micro SD card into the E3-flasher. waited for the XMB pressed the start button.The first time around I had the 1st,2nd and 7th blue led blinking, switched of the PS3 switched it back again and gave it another try after getting to the XMB on screen.The eight led lights started to come on one by one and watched it till the 6th led and went out. When i came back I found the alternate 4 led lights blinking and alternating.
I thought the back up was complete and used the PS3 power button to switch of the unit. took out the micro-sd and put it into the computer to copy the back up and check it using flowrebuilder but did not find any files on the micro sd card(no log text file either) on it, presuming the back up failed I put back the sd card into the E3 flasher and switched on the PS3. There was no display or sound on the TV.
Tried to switch the unit off and the power button was not working, no HDD activity light either. Only way to switch it off is to yank out the power supply or hold down the power button for 15 secs when it turns off. I have the slim ps3 NOR (CECH-2058B- came om 3.41 firmware).
When the unit is switched on with all the E3 flasher buttons down the standby red led of the PS3 turns green, there is no display , sound or blinking of the HDD light.If a disc is fed it takes it up, the blue light comes on and you can hear the unit reading the disc.
Have tried the video reset trick.
IS THIS UNIT BRICKED ??? I DO NOT HAVE A BACK UP OF MY CONSOLE AT ALL-NONE OF THE FIRMWARE as i was in the process of getting a dump for the first time,

I am stuck .

Pleeeeeeease help can the unit be restored????

UPDATE: I manged to get some sort of a file from the ps3, I think it was from the OB flash what. What I did is I put the switches 3 and 5 up (i think it is backup and the first OB flash).THe file I got has the right file size and named automatically as "bkpe30.bin".I checked this with flowrebuilder and it gives message "completed with errors".Obviously i cannot use this file but can it be repaired????

How is it that the console goes into a semi brick state when trying to dump the NOR using E3?? I have not flashed any file to the ps3 using the E3 .
The console switches on green light-no video,sound.
The power off switch does not switch off the console. Without going into XMB how does one dump the NOR using E3???
Holding the Power button down after switching on from standby causes the console to switch off after about 14 secs (no beeps in between)
