I was put off by $ony when they decided to sue people who touched "their" previous PS3 even if the things they were doing didnt allow piracy.
I was put off when they changed the TOS in the USA just because they could get away with it.
I was put off when they removed otheros, I never used it, but they took away a feature I paid for!
I was put off when they removed the memory card slot, 2 usb ports and PS3 BC, on all consoles in newer consoles.
I was put off as they keep referring to their updates are either "optional" or mandatory to suit their needs; when the 3.21 update was basically ransoming people of their console, either stick with 3.15 and lose psn and future game/movie support, or update and lose otheros; not much of a choice, more like an ultimatum.

So after buying a PS1, a PS2, a PSP and a PS3, the next console I buy will not be a $ony one!

I read people commenting how it's no different than companies price gouging on HDDs. There is a HUGE difference. Vita memory is "PROPRIETARY" and like others covered also it's "NECESSARY".

Now the necessary part has been argued already; it should never be necessary, there should at least be space reserved for saved data either on all game carts or on the unit itself. Since there isn't, okay lets go with the option of expanded memory.

Now we get to PROPRIETARY: what does this mean for Vita: this means Sony developed it's own memory sticks to work with the VITA only and will not work on any other device (without an attachment or add-on), no other 3rd party will be allowed to distribute memory for VITA, I guarantee they will be sued if a company tries and shut down (this has been done before).

Why does this matter and why does it make arguing the HDDs on other consoles pointless? Simple, at least with both MS and Sony you can buy your HDD and use it on your 360/PS3 (they will not support that HDD if anything goes wrong, but they do not care if you do so). The HDD is NOT PROPRIETARY, and therefor the use of 3rd party hardware is at the end user own risk. People are angry cause Sony stripped that choice away from them, on top of over pricing their sticks when there was no need for such high margin.

At least with PSP, Memory Stick Pro became a standard and you see companies like Lexmark, Sandisk and others making reasonable costs for said sticks because it used outside PSP (like Sony Cameras). This will not happen with VITA. Sony purposely went out of their way to avoid 3rd parties from profiting off their handheld.

(This is what people are pissed about, and SHOULD be pissed. Anyone who is not, is ignorant to their own knowledge and if they want to support Sony ripoff technology then do so on your own merit, you are wasting time convincing anyone else that it's not a big deal when it clearly is.)

The Xbox still uses external memory to save games. Yes, it has some built in memory, but at some point you need to buy a Microsoft propriatary harddrive (that is also overpriced) to save games, downloads and updates.

FYI, Microsoft do care about piracy. The last couple of months there were numerous updates from Microsoft that were "pointless". Yes, a couple of useless features were added, but the main reason for these updates was to stop piracy (regardless of the reason Microsoft offcially gave).
yea i get what you're saying(especially since i'm not deep into xbox news just what my friends say about the console, which is a bit biased) but you also have to admit that the overall xbox experience and how M$ handles things is more lets say professional, than $ony.for example kinect(to me this is kinda cheesy but i have to admit this is where the future video games is heading with less controllers and more interaction) and the overall integration of the os is far better on the xbox. while ps move is just a wii ripoff and the os is like the apple of video games consoles, too dam simple and nothing special.

sony are going to be in big trouble if they keep doing stuff like this,
they are acting like they want to go bankrupt they are just fleecing
their customers,
the reason i bought the ps, ps2, psp, pspgo, ps3, ps3slim was they used to care for there customers or so i thought looks like they were just Acting that way i really wanted to buy the vita and was going to buy one but not now
if they say none of this is true maybe i might get one

The thing I would be weary of if I intended to buy a Vita is that only the 32GB card is going to be a viable option in the future. DLC and PSN downloads and game saves will quickly fill up any of the other cards and you will need to buy another card all too soon.

I'm disgusted, i'm not surprised but still disgusted
lol then use your microsd card with device that supports it,obviously Vita is not going to support them, and they will not make them cheaper for sure,I dont see what's the problem here, sony's 32gb memory stick PRO-HG Duo costs like 130-150$/mark2 is 119-130$ its on the market for about 5 years and no one gives a ****.But when sony's decide to sell 32gb card that are faster for cheaper price ****storm starts.
Yes microsd's are cheaper, but they are slower, infact they slow even for psp games,Im not happy myself with price, but when choice is 3ds with microsd's or vita with sony's cards,I pick sony.
