@Oskarreftel or mods

I've been reading in the main NTSC thread, and I've been very interested in the methods you used to get it to work on the CECHEX 80gb model. I copied and pasted these to a text file on my comp so I could use with the 60gb tuto,

"I have an 80GB PS3 w/ BC. The Metal Gear Solid Edition. I got it to work! The key is to use the USBLD_02b.ELF file
from the pal version instead of the USBLD_01.ELF file. Setup everything else like normal for the NTSC method including
the virtual memory card but use the usbld2b.elf file. I got it to work with Final Fantasy X perfectly but when i tried
Tekken 5 it froze at the namco screen. Not sure if it being a newer game has anything to do with it.

Hurray! I finally managed to boot Tekken 5 through my usbdrive on my MGS4 bundled PS3! What I did was format my pendrive
to FAT32, made a new folder in it's root (named SWAPMAGIC) pasted in a copy of usbloader 0.2 and renamed it to SMBOOT0.
After that, I used usbutil to install tekken 5 in the root of the pendrive, put it in my ps3, powered it on, booted swap
magic 3.8 and chose SMBOOT0 from there."

---

.. but do you think you could compile a full tutorial for the 80gig model, so others can try it too?

Thanks alot everybody

as far as i know the 400gb/80gb models do not boot any ps2-type discs. so how did you manage that?
another question: what is your firmware-version?
when i'm back home i will give it a try, too. it would be very nice!

cybinator is right, the European 80GB models never had backwards compatiability.

But saying that,i dont see what that has too do with this thread,as the thread creator is using an original 80GB PS3,which has got backwards compatiability, you can tell this as he mentions NTSC a few times

OP here.

Thanks for the backup guys lol.

Yea, I was speaking of the 80gb NTSC model. It's the Motorstorm or MGS4 bundle console (CECHExx) or something. The poster of the results in the tutorial thread said that he got it working, but it would be against rules to invade that thread and ask him I assume, so I put a help thread here.

Hopefully someone can post a full, proper tutorial to get it working for 80gb folks.

Thanks again!

I dont think its the same, because the poster using the 80gb console said he used some other files, but it's not clear what he used, and the entire step process.

Any help would be appreciated, not just by me, but by other users too.

Thanks!
