Im looking for help or a guide to make my life easy by basically mirroring my information that is on my 4.o0 to my 3.55 so when i data transfer my to my 4.oo im not downloading map packs pictures ect.. because obviously i can not get online with my 3.55 to download map packs or anything else.

if im not mistaken the two ps3 must be on the same firewire to data transfer, but you could do a data utility backup and restore on the 3.55 ps3 although unsure how/what will be backed up and restored, it states everything will be bar copy righted material.

best bet would be to back up both ps3 to make sure, restore your 4.00 back up on your 3.55 and see how it goes. if your not happy then just restore your 3.55 back and it should be back to it was before you restored the 4.00 back up lol if you understand what im saying lol

lol im the opposite of you, ill be looking to transfer my data from my 3.55 to my 4.00 when i get it on crimbo. though i don't think i will as it copys all folders and i don't want to copy UN-needed files such as backups and im unsure of the full file structure to make sure its all correct and wont waste any space lol

I have done many Hard drive swaps between my 3 PS3s & like 8 PS3 full backups/Data transfers ! I hope this will help . I have done a full PS3 backup to external & swapped my 160GB PS3 hard drive with new 1TB internal. Then restored all data to same PS3 with a new 1TB drive in it. Also restored to another Ps3 .It restores everything including the backups games on internal if you have any + DUPLEX PSN games .I did not notice anything missing every time i did this ,even though it says stuff about copyright. I think it still all gets restored including my movies & music, etc

Everything was a complete clone Hope this helps with the wondering part ,lol

@jp_cfc09 By the way if you connect the 2 Ps3s together don't forget. You need the 355 spoofed 4.0 .Also you're Ps3 will give you the option to transfer all copyrighted data on a data transfer if you do a full transfer doing Ethernet. If you do the full transfer, this way.? Remember your 4.0 will be reformatted/wiped -> totally cloned with your 355. I still always create a backup of my CFW 355 just in case something goes wrong. Then i can restore everything back. It is good to have a full backup believe me i had learned the hard way.

You never know my Ps3 got stuck in a recovery loop once on start up. I had to wipe everything out with my PC -> I was pissed I don't like chancing things with my PS3 so much now. Except flashing CFW, as i am addicted to the open/freedom of the Ps3 It took over 8 hours straight getting everything back from my PSN purchase list = it sucked big time. This was before i had a chance to do any backups..

I even called Sony & complained big time. In the end, Sony went against there own policy ! After i gave the PSN network support HELL. About their's / Sony's crap recovery had failed + this was there fault not mine. I has said then i ripped into them a bit more

They let me Download all my movies a second time .There is only a 1 time download policy for movies / video on PSN ... good luck if you decide to do it ..

cheers for the heads up mate, the 4.0 ps3 i got is brand new so ill be OK. I am just looking to get all the things from my cfw ps3 to my ofw ps3 which hasn't a thing on it so ill be OK, though thanks for the heads up anyway. im just going to do a backup some time next week as its saying it'll take like 5 hours lol

Don't feel bad ,my backups take around 12 to 24 hours ,lol
Restoring take just 1/16 of the time
