Can i reinstall kmeaw 3.55 or must i format?
Im running kmeaw 3.55 and i have problems running many of my games on hdd. I bought it with ofw 3.41(with dongle) and upgraded it to cfw kmeaw 3.55. After this many of the games on hdd dosent work. I have been working to get this to work for about 2 months now and im just getting tired of it.
Now im wondering about trying to reinstall ofw 3.55 and try to reinstall kmeaw 3.55 again. Can i do this? Or must i format the hdd to get rid of everything i have done? (must have done something wrong when i installed cfw 3.55) Is it a better CFW to use? I have a FAT PS3. |

A lot of the games were originally signed to work on 3.41 when the dongles were used, and at a guess that is why you are having problems so in my opinion, a format will not do anything.
Check the games that do not work to see if they have had a 3.41 patch done for them and if so try replacing the patched eboot with the original one. |

Kmeaw isn't updated since was released
so I recommend you Rebut CFW 3.55.2 with 0.6 patch is a better CFW |

Changing CFWs will not change the compatibility of your games. As Wolfie708 said, 3.41 runs differently than 3.55, and as a result requires all games to use patched EBOOT files. The firmware itself isn't what loads your backups, it's what allows you to install payloads + packages, which in turn enables the emulation of your BD-drive, letting you make the PS3 think it's loading an actual disc, when in reality you're loading an image of that disc. Think of it kind of like Daemon Tools or Virtual Clone Drive. Different payloads also have different compatibility levels with different games.
If your EBOOTs are patched, then 3.55 will NOT read them correctly, and thus not boot your games. We can't link EBOOTs on here, as it is kind of in the league of piracy. Either use google, or get the original EBOOTs from the discs themselves, and copy them into the game's folder to replace the one currently backed up. In addition, if memory serves, running games discless works better on 3.41 than on 3.55, which may also cause issues, but I could be mistaken, as I always have a disc in my PS3. In answer to your question though, you don't NEED to go to OFW before installing REBUG, but it's always recommended.
