Couldn't you just format......

Couldn't you just format the PS3 HDD and then just install the OFW you want. Then you could just JB it. If not, at least it sounds good in theory.

you can't. the firmware isn't stored in the HDD. well, most of it isnt.

if it were that simple, people would have JB'd consoles that way a long time ago instead of going through all this drama.
