Hello, i've got FAT ps3 that has not been used for more than 1.5 years. and today i turned it on and bought NFS THE RUN, however, the menu before the game says this:

The system software of your PS3 system is in version 2.45. To start, you must upgrade to version 3.72 or later. Do you want to proceed? Yes or No

Ok, i didn't proceed as i want to upgrade to 3.55 (which is latest version that supports game backups??? is it?)..

now, my question is simple: what to do now to be able to play original AND backup games, even if they, like THE RUN require 3.72

nope, sorry, aint gonna happen

you can either

1. update and stick with ofw
2. update to 3.55 and wait for fixes
3. update to 3.55 and buy a dongle to let u play some newer games

what do you mean aint gonna happen?

if i got original PS3 game NFS Shift which requires 3.72 at least, how can i play it with 3.55 then?

you cannot play a disc that requires higher than the firmware installed unless you update

you can back them up and wait for a fix or use a DRM dongle if they released a fix for said game

so, if i upgrade to 3.55 and jailbreak it, i need to copy my NFS THE RUN to PS3 HDD with multiman, then install fix and i'll be able to play it?

Also, another question as i see you're the expert, what jailbreak do you recommend me after i upgrade to 3.55?

i recommend kmeaw cfw 3.55
you will need a DRM dongle to play NFS the run as a 3.55 "free" fix isnt available as its being withheld by the DRM dongle sellers
i will not recommend any DRM dongles

ok if it's situation like that, then i'll upgrade to latest version of software and buy unused games on yellowpages, i think it's the best way, you say so too? i mean now you can get a game for €30

dont forget the online pass if u buy 2nd hand . with need4 speed hp u needed buy a online pass, u might as well buy the game new

i would always recommend updating over drm dongles.
others would disagree but meh...

I personally would rather just wait for a 4.0 jailbreak. lOl. It may not happen soon, but, it will at some point.
Hopefully after this GEOHOT thing blows over lOl.
