Kmeaw 3.55 and Blue-ray

The other night I ventured out to my local movie rental store and rented a Blue-Ray movie. It was a 2011 release and when I put it in my PS3 I went to start it and received a message that said I had to update my system software to 3.70 in order to watch the movie, this was from the mian XMB and not the XMMB in Multi-man. Is this something encoded on the newer Blue-Rays being released? Is there anyway around this?
Thanks in advance for any info.

It seems as of late that Sony wants an upgrade to your FW to watch B-R movies. I've seen quite a few threads open about it. Search the forums, I dont know if a workaround has been found.

If you are using CFW 355 like Kmeaw ,install the stand alone spoof 4.0 for 355 CFW.The BD movie should work on CFW without getting the firmware message.. If you are using rebug 355.2 use the spoof for there CFW 355.2. Which would be update 6 & set CEX/DEX i believe to debug it will spoof your firmware to 4.0..

This is only if using CFW ...http://rebug.me/downloads/
