Can duplex fix updates from PSN like they do games?

Is it possible to "FIX" updates requiring higher firmware revisions to make them playable on 3.55? I ask because surely if updates contain the same work-around used to release PSN titles surely this could be our ticket to playing the newer games on 3.55?

You can safely assume, at the moment, everything is possible, but not public.

- We see edat files, working on 3.5x - 4.0x (Exetrimall, others)
- We see psn eboot.bins from 3.6x-4.0x (Keys are out in private/dumped from ram, etc.)
- Duplex first did debug eboots (StardustHD has dev cheats in it) but has come a long way..
- Third parties are now pirating psn content as they see fit. But they didn't release any game updates/patches.. i wonder why.

What i also don't understand, is why duplex has not released any patched eboots for the TB series.

Look over to the xbox360 and the whole scene is pirating dvd-r, converting boxes to debug, emulating drives.. and suddenly the ps3 scene seems a bit 'dry' so to say. It's like everyone knowledgeable is a) scared of Sony b) not sharing any details because of (a)?
I mean, even for edat generation, all the stuff is in the wiki, yet no tools are out..

I also think, for 3.6x we can use the leaked SDK npdrm or self tools and sign say, ftp server and some self exploit(s) as the hypervisor doesn't seem to care about us exploiting the ps3 (see talk). Plenty of options.. but nothing is happening in public. I wonder why?

(Keys are out in private/dumped from ram, etc.) ???????

why are they private? And if these PSN keys are out, why can't they be used on updates?

DUPLEX doesn't release TB releases because they are not "in cahoots" with the TB like say, PARADOX is.

But to answer OP's question. No one knows exactly how DUPLEX is cracking these releases in the first place. There is literally no way of telling if they can crack updates just as they do PSN games and classics. They also may not really care about game updates so they dont bother with them.

I'm 99% sure the workaround for PSN games does not work for game patches. Reason is simple : game patches don't use NPDRM. There must be a workaround for games encrypted with NPDRM only.

As for the keys being kept private, it's so that they can make money off them (hello True Blue).

My reasoning is because the updates include eboots encrypted with 3.60+ keys, so if these could be cracked we could effectively update using a downloaded fixed package and then play newer games.

Well it's simple. Patches are encrypted the same way as discs. If you can crack patches, you can crack disc EBOOTs too.

Some game updates (GT5 for example) are encrypted with NPDRM keys. FYI

It'll be very nice if we see GT5 XL edition released by DUPLEX, or at least SPEC 2 updates. Anyway, back on topic. I see a little slowdown by DUPLEX with their releases. Yes, they released two PSN games recently, but I really miss the daily releases back then. It would be very nice of them if they share their method publicaly, but on the other hand I think its better that way. It's kind of safer for them and everyone else that way.

I'd love GTA5 updates too! Does anyone know how Duplex is cracking the NPDRM, or is more information available?
