Hi

I am having issues with step 19.
I am on "connect the controller screen".
Unplugged the cable from the console for half a min, plug back in, USB dongle is inserted in the right usb port, however after pressing power, then eject button, nothing happens, console is still on the connect controller screen, and does not turn off by itself?

Any advice please?

What downgrade dongle are you using?

Hi

I am using blackcat.

This dongle has red and blue LED on it.
From what I can remember, when the blue one lights up as well, that means the console is jailbroken.

They are both on, blue and red, but as I said, ps3 does not turn off.

So it is programmed for jailbreak, right now. You need to program it for Factory/Service Mode trigger.
Either find out how from the manufacturer's website, or this guide will set it up.

Once you get to the "Downgrading Process" in that guide, don't do it. Come back to this guide and start where you left off. The files for the downgrade process in that guide are not correct.

I am sorry dude, I am getting really confused with this.

I thought Jailbreak mode was the same as service mode.

From what I understand, I need to flash my blackcat usb dongle with a Service mode HEX file?

Am I right here?

If so, would this help?

EDIT: I have successfully done everything, my ps3 is now on latest ROGERO.
The service mode hex file above worked great form my blackcat.

Some post downgrade questions...

When updating to future CFW's or even in case of going back to OFW, do I need to toggle the QA flag, or do anything else, to prevent bricking?

Just leave Qa flag toggled on. Don't worry about toggling it again. Just leave it and delete the app.

I forgot, you went straight to Rogero 4.30 v2.05?
If you did, then you did not toggle Qa flag. If you are going to update to a new CFW, like say Rogero 4.30 v2.06 comes out, you can just update to it from the XMB. You can't toggle Qa flag on 4.30. So you would not need to worry about it.

But lets say you wanted to downgrade to 3.55. You would need to use one of the downgrader PUPs. Either 4.25 to 3.55 or the REBUG 9.99 downgrader. After installing that from the recovery menu or Condor Updater, you would then want to install and run qa.toggle.pkg.
Then install OFW 3.55 from recovery menu or Condor Updater.
Then update to whatever CFW you want.
And leave Qa flag toggled on and don't worry about it ever again.

So basically Qa flag just masks the syscon checks, and allows you to install firmwares without the worry of the syscon going into a panic. The syscon only gets panicked when you downgrade from a firmware 3.56 or higher, to 3.55 or lower.

If you are never going to downgrade back to 3.55, then there is no reason to toggle Qa flag.
