The Yakuza series, Demon Souls, Viking, Dynasty Warriors 7 and if you're into racing Motorstorm: Apocalypse, it brings 3D like GT5 and just as fun.

NFS Hot Pursuit if you're into arcade racing.
Resident Evil 5 to play with a partner. Sonic Generations for high speed awesomeness. Both Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood. CoD Black Ops/Modern Warfare 2 to play with friends. FIFA12 just 'cause you can. The Uncharteds, but I don't keep them, just played them once. Others go by preference, rather than trascendance |

Yes, Demon's Souls, man! And then some more Demon's Souls.
You can play that game untill dongles are history and we're on 5.0 CFW (whenever that may be). Yes, there's no driving in it but there's demons. And souls.  But seriously - Uncharted 2 (didn't play 1 and 3), GTA4, MGS4 (if you're a fan of the series), Mortal Kombat, Heavy Rain, Red Dead Redemption. Those are the games I enjoyed the most but I didn't play anything longer than Demon's Souls (New Game++++). |

Everyone here posted some pretty good games. I would suggest getting them. But since you like racing games, I also suggest getting Split Second and Blur(it's a cool game).

Whoa! Thanks for the responses. You realise that I only have a 160GB hard drive?! LOL.
The one thing that I forget to say that I’m going to mod a PS3 for my 10 year old nephew, so apart FIFA, Tiger Woods etc, I’d appreciate any suggestions for any ‘must haves’ for the little 'un.
