Well, I'm out. I extracted the ps2emu files from Cobra CFW, threw them in dev_flash/ps2emu, and tried the boot_ps2 app. Instead of rlod or return to XMB, it spins the disc up, controller de-syncs, and it locks up on a black screen.

Here's what I think happens: boot_ps2 simply calls ps2_softemu.self with kernel privs, the OFW one (in >2.50 anyway) will not boot discs (only PSN Classics) whereas the Cobra one will boot anything (discs, mountpoints, backups) providing the dongle is present. I don't know what the pst_emu.self and pst_gxemu.self do, but would imagine they are the Cobra-enabled versions of OFW files.

I think it's cool that PS2 discs boot on non-BC PS3s running 2.50 though. (With glevand's app)

Well, the problem is, I have no idea how to do that; I'm not a software guy lol

Comgenies awesome file manager works on 2.50 if that helps you. I copied all of 2.50 dev_flash to my flash drive and will upload it.

This is over my head, dude. What VIRGIN KLM said is the truth, someone (not me) has to patch a bunch of 3.55 files to allow the 2.50 ps2emu files to work in 3.55. I haven't the faintest idea how to do that, but I think that is the solution.

Also note that most games even after they launch the go to black screen with Cobra and they stay there. Make sure you play one of the compatible tittles to test it, like Crash Nitro Cart (Sync Controller and press X & Start), Kingdom Hearts 1/2/RCoM etc.

I was testing with the disc that came with my PS2 network adapter, it boots perfectly in 2.50, and you can navigate the setup options, even passes the network adapter test, however, the sony emulator is only half done, memory card support doesn't work (even in service mode just booting the disc from XMB) and there is no PS2 settings screen- pressing the PS button does nothing, and if you hold it down, the game exits back to XMB. Also, maybe it's just me, but as soon as it kicks into PS2 mode, it only outputs through the AV cable, no HDMI. I'm starting to see why no one really pursued this, I mean it's great to tinker around, but this really doesn't help anyone anyway. Maybe some wizard will port PCSX2 to GameOS for non-BC people...

I just wish I had component cables for my PS2, because it looks terrible on my LCD. And my CECHA01 is getting flakey, so I avoid using it.

[edit] Oh, and one last thing: if anyone wants to play around with this, careful with downgrading in FSM- I was experimenting with going lower than 2.45, which is what "normal" downgrade via recovery and System Update Debug tells me is the lowest, but I tried 2.36 Debug anyway(which runs fine on the CECHA and CECHG), it semi-bricked, and when I unbricked it with 2.50, it had quite handily formatted my drive with 2 years of saves, trophies, etc I'm back on KMEAW and reinstalling everything.

It works on me perfectly and I don't have a BC console, I think it doesnt work just on Slims.

That's normal, same with Cobra, while in kernel mode on non-BC consoles there is no settings menu.

Works through any output on me.

Nobody will port PCSX2 on PS3 because apart from the hardware/resources restrictions, PCSX2 is not open source and the PCSX2 team said that they don't care at all to port PCSX2 to any other format/OS/console.
