can flashing ps3 help gain access to data from a previous ps3 hdd
hi, can anyone help me.
i had a ylod problem with my ps3, so i have exchanged it for a another one with playstation, but kept my hdd cause of my data on it. what i want to know, is there anyway to get that data on the new ps3 i have?and if i flash it, wil my old hdd work so i can back up or transfer my data? |

im afraid not it's locked to your old ps3 using the hdd would result in a format

I agree with
@ajax
HDD's are PS3 specific and putting it in another PS3 formats it. The only thing I might say is copying it on a PC and transferring the music or whatever? But that even seems like a longshot and I dunno if it would work. You probably just have to start from scratch

The HDD is encrypted and can ony be decrypted by your old PS3, The HDD serial is also stored in flash as second protection....
Only way is to fix your ylod temporary....

so basically, i cant flash my old hdd via pc and down grade it and then put in my new ps3?you think that can work anyone?
second way i was thinking is, to flash the new hdd, down grade it, and then put the old one in, you think that will work? |

1. Working. 2. On 3.55 Rebug CFW. 3. You will need to have activated Debug mode in the Rebug Selector. So, your YLoD console needs to be working in order for you to use that option.

the decryption only allows the PS3 the HDD was connected to to read the HDD, no other PS3 will read it. Connecting it to a PC/laptop won't work either because of the decryption. The PC/laptop won't see any partition and only allows you to format the HDD destroying the data on it.
