Absinthe is not ilegal in some countries (Brazil for exemple). The hallucinogen effects is more a myth (a historical one) than a real effect - there is no scientifical evidence.

Yea sorry I ment to say in a couple of country's it isn't but you would still struggle to get the real stuff. They used to drink it with suger and smoking opium on top of that .

Yeah most probley , but at the same time they were taking other rubbish , during the renascence era all them painters were all off there tits on opium , they used to have opium dens , obviously it was all legal then but basically as you probley know opium is heroin so they were all junkies and not just the poor painters and artist , the rich people that could afford things to .

not for me.
the higher concentration of alcohol means less impurities. i also find that any spirits i brew myself give no hangovers :D when i make absinthe (flavoured neutral spirit lol) at 65-70% alc volume i get very drunk but feel awesome when i wake up
