Greetings from Nigeria; need some help asap!
Hi everybody, I actually just goggled this site and just registered. I am new here, pardon me for the bluntness.
I just woke up and tried booting my PS3 to go some rounds of Ninja Gaiden and all I am getting is a screen with the Sony Logo and no sound nor is the game coming up. I am an attorney and a game/comic book fan so I have little technical knowledge. Someone please help!!!!!!! Best Regards. |

Are you on OFW or CFW?
It could be a number of issues from overheating to corrupt data if running a backup. We need more info.

hmmmm...
my guess is it's overheating. When my PS3 was going out to eventual YLOD, I couldn't get a screen but could hear all sound. Is the fan louder than normal..? Do you feel or have you noticed more heat coming from it lately? ***post merged*** Thinking about it further, it could be the BR Drive also since you're playing from disc....

Alright, I'm guessing you're on OFW.
Goto: XMB>Settings>System Infomation...and you will find out your current firmware. When you find out your current firmware, visit the link below to reinstall that firmware: http://www.ps3hax.net/downloads.php?do=cat&id=1 From what you described with how you shut the PS3 off, you could have corrupted something by it not shutting down properly or; if you tried every disc game you have and the same symptoms are present, it could be your bluray drive.
