ok, so i have this ps3 who doesn't have a working BD drive(can't insert disks), though the drive's firmware still works to make pkgs work, and i can still have a bit of fun with it.

now i have this file which i found on ps3devwiki (boot_ps2.pkg) and obviously when i load it, i get an error (80028F17-failed to load ps2 game), and i would like someone with a ps3 that is NOT BC and with a working drive to test it IN FSM (remember that thread where the guy said it worked on 3.73 FSM? well, maybe it'd work on 3.55 FSM with that pkg).

It's just an idea that i have, maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but i'm willing to give it a shot

And since you're at it, you could test in on a non-FSM console, although it probably won't do anything to it :/

I remember that thread. I would be willing to test it on my 3.55 kmeaw slim. I've got to go to my granny's 91st b- day party soon, but will check it out later tonight.

You can't run pkgs in FSM.
On the other hand, I'd like to know how well that works in a BC console without cobra, could you give me the link?

EDIT : Nvm, found it.
EDIT 2 : Doesn't work on BC, I get the same error. It seems to work (as in actually calling the PS2 mode) but is incomplete.

... forgot about the HDD... yeah you're right pereb. Oh, and i had a talk with euss, he says the guy from the other thread had no concrete proof of being able
to play ps2 games on FSM. and we know that the only way to FSM on latter versions is to do it on 3.55 and then update through FSM. forget about this thread, it's silly :/

have you tried to resign the 2.50 ps2_emu files, replace them on dev_blind and test on 3.55 fsm or with boot_ps2.pkg on 3.55?

does anyone have a copy of ps2_emu-src.rar. ps2_emu i have, but i havent been able to find src anywhere
