Buying a new cfw-compatible slim - should i dare it?

Hi everyone,

First of all, I've been following the scene (quietly) for over a year now so I'm not a complete noob.

But recently my phat 40gb had a YLOD, so now I'm looking for a new cfw capable ps3. I know the new 3K models are hopeless but yesterday i bumped into a "ps3 move starter bundle".

Like this one

The boxes says "cech-2504B", 320GB and i found 2011 in the small print (not sure if that means it really is a 2011 bundle). The store owner wouldn't allow me to open the box and i can't return an opened box to the store (stupid policy)...

My question, do you guys think it will be 3.56+?

I'm not a move fan so if i have to spend that amount of money, i rather have it bundled with a decent game

cheers!

I think that bundle comes with fw 3.41, I will have a quick look to find out 100% though.

**EDIT**
http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/SKU_Models
Just noticed you said 2011 model, so looks like it will most likely be fw 3.61

Avoid move bundles. Look for consoles bundled by manufacturer with a game (not sports champions or anything that's in a move bundle) that requires 3.55 or lower, such as GT5, Black Ops, Modnation Racers, among others.

I know, that little 2011 kept me from buying it...

The pack must be from early 2011 though since it comes with the "starter game" and not the some silly "sports champions", "Medieval Moves" or "Dancestar Party" recent move bundles come with.

From what i can find that particular bundle was released 16/11/2010. But who knows till when it was produced....

I can tell you, avoid that bundle.
Or, ask your retailer to open the box and check the date code on the sticker on the bottom of the PS3. If it's 0C or 0D, it's hackable. some 1A's are hackable, some aren't. Avoid 1B at all costs.
