the thing is that this originally must have come from here: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/index.php?title=IDPS this is on the wiki long long ago, he just managed to dump it and flash it trying to make some sort of tutorial, the thing he missed is, it needs to be decrypted first modified and encrypted after it.

Waaaaaait. This is the TargetID? The only thing to edit?
If so, pretty sure this is legit, only missing a few steps.
That ObjectiveSuites tutorial would be interesting to check. If the request_idps.txt contains the decrypted IDPS, you just edit that value and go on.

This makes changing the BluRay region switching possible. The method described below is using 3 region specific bytes (0x84, 0x85, 0x8C) to change the modelinfo.

If that really is true, I have to say I'm very surprised nobody figured this out before. And it does sound a bit too good to be true... Only time will test. I don't have a flasher and the CFW PS3 we have here belongs to my brother anyway, else I'd try it.

Looks like another of those "info found on PS3devwiki posted there months ago" thread, LOL.

EDIT 3 : And since the IDPS is in EID5, that explains why you had to do a drive init after converting to DEX with ObjectiveSuites.

It does appear to be decrypted, so everything should be possible with ObjSuites.

EDIT 5 : I'm not sure if you can do this on a CECH-25xx, if it does work. Those have 3.40 or higher minimum firmware and you need to remarry the BD drive after converting. There's this 3.55 remarry method, but it does say you need a <3.30 firmware to install, however maybe this can be skipped?

I thought that since the IDPS is needed and there was a manual to obtain it with linux while QA flagging could one not just change the 6th byte to change the target id and use slynks tokenator to QA and DEX all at once?

This does sound good and looks like a closer step in a direction...I would try this to see if it works on my ps3 slim cech2001a.....but don't haver a flasher and dont wana brick.
Maby we will see others fix or make it to where you don't need a flasher???
I'll give it some time and if all looks good..and a flasher is the only and safe way to go i will buy one.
