I tried it again with COD Black ops. Which has OFW 3.50 pup on disc. This time I put the usb in the left port, instead of the right. Funny, I hear the disc spin up at times.

4.11 again.

At least we all got a good laugh. LOL.

I just gotta throw my 2 cents in here. I actually believe that mirkie is telling what he thinks is the truth.

We all know there is no way in hell you are going to downgrade a PS3 on OFW 4.11 with this method, BUT (and this is a big BUT):
I have done something sorta similar. I had (and made a video) of my ps3 asking for 4.00 firmware in recovery and installed 3.55. The catch is: it was previously downgraded AND QA flagged.

Chances are his friends ps3 was QA'd and/or previously downgraded without him knowing, maybe running a spoofed firmware too. Who knows.
In any case, its been proven it doesn't work.

The Firmware is stored on the Nand/Nor, if your hard drive was corrupted simply would have had to format or uncorrupt it. How ever I do see where you are coming from, because updates can be stored in a game, this is how Sony updates people when they have no internet, or it's required to play that game. But there are checks and I'm pretty sure your PS3 (if connected to internet) Would check to see what the latest update is and sure of hell it's not 4.11, so it's nearly impossible for this to happen or occur. (not calling this BS, just doubting it)

This could be possible. It was a 2nd hand PS3.
