I'm tempted to try FW update corruption on mine but I only have 1 ps3. I downgraded it once with my psp and ran rebug 3.55 on it for a bit but I cant remember if i QA'd it. I checked the factory FW on it a while ago and it said 1.5. Someone else had my ps3 and updated to 3.7 so until i get a flasher I don't wanna brick but the chance of being able to run emulators agian is awfully tempting....

I was on 3.70 and that can go into service mode.

Press and hold the power button on the PS3 it will power on then power off. When it's off press and hold the power button again until you hear two consecutive beeps

That is the way to get into Service/Factory Mode correct?

EDIT: Oh and I think my ps3 had been QA flagged at some point, I don't remember.

I have never heard of a 240xA/B. As far as I know there is the 210x and the very next model released was the 250x.

So mirkie, are you sure this thing is a 2405B, If it is then it may be some kind of prototype ps3 meant for the Korean region.

LOL nope, that's recovery. Every PS3 can do that, of course. Factory Service Mode is when you use the jig tool or any open source device with power>eject. Big red box on the XMB. Ringing any bells?

Ok, I tried this out, QA'd the ps3 on 3.55 Rogero 3.1, turned on system update debug, updated to 4.11, pulled hdd and formatted in pc.
PS3 will not accept any FW other that 4.11. So, this didn't work for me. Time to flash it back to 3.55!
