Couple of questions:

1) The base fw version (minverchek): whats the difference between a ofw 3.56 updadet ps3 and a 3.56 from factory? I mean, if I m going to reflash nand or nor I should be able to put whatever I want on it stated the hardware is the same... Am I missin something? There are some detailed info about this?

2) Seems there was a big fuss about Nodex. I missed the point.
Didn't seem to me he pretended to release good things. He said: I m trying this, useless (from a practical point of view) but maybe interesting. But people seem to hate him... why? did he lie about something? (an experimental cfw not installing correctly is not a news... I think...)

Just one last thing, as an outsider, I had one impression from ps3 forums.. seems like everybody wants a CFW (me too :-) and hackers MUST give it to them... Hacking is hacking.. not bring benefits to others, I think. I would really love more to understand the discovers they made even than having the final product, which to me represents only a way for not paying games.

1. if it was 3.56 factory then unlikely to be downgradeable. updated to 3.56 is downgradeable as it was on 3.55 at one time.
going lower than factory version = bad

2. forget nodex you will see many names come and go in a blaze of self proclaimed glory. most of them are glorywhores

Hello & Welcome to the forums.

1) 3.56FW from factory is the lowest the PS3 can be downgraded although I've been told you may be able to get to 3.55 via a flasher and some file swaps.

2) The threads state it all. In particular from someone whos tested it, @hellsing9 here.

Those with 3000 model PS3's (or those with PS3's that can't reach 3.55) want a new CFW/MFW.
I personally feel that a MFW/CFW will kill off dongles altogether.

Thank u for ur reply, but honetly I am looking for "more technical answers" (or where to get them) I don't need a CFW I just want to know.

And even if I should forget about nodex (but after Mooses, Tutha and MrJailbreak619...) I just would like to have an answer: Did it lie? About what? Seems like some one else think he is not to blame.

Not talking about Nodex, but in general:
Yes, one tried a CFW but it didn't work. Wasn't waninkoko CFW to brick tons of PS3?

Expecially in the IT world... and EXPECIALLY in hacking world I think is quite understandable to have 90% failure... If I should say "Linux is fake" everytime a distro didn't install correctly...

I even could believe to the guy who downgraded with fifa 2011. Maybe he was wrong and had already a 3.46 (or whatever) version.. but he forgots... But really I can't punish him for this. He just believed he could share info. And is a good thing. If someone really don't know and want to try to be smart.. I think is boring, and I leave hime by his own... that's all.

3.55 is the magic firmware.
a factory 3,56 is likely to have checks in place that render a downgrade impossible without bricking the system.
