Which JB dongle do I need? I'm confused...

I'd like to downgrade and then jailbreak my PS3 and it seems like the E3 Flasher is the best downgrader tool, but then do I also need a jailbreak dongle?

I'm seeing things like "JB King", "True Blue", "Cobra", etc. Do I need any of them? I have a PSP-2000 to act as a trigger if needed.

...but the "Cobra" dongle sounds neat because it lets you play Bluray ISOs which sounds amazing but other than that, do I really need anything besides the E3 Flasher and my PSP?

My main goal is to play backups via the HDD (and the latest games, etc).

Being able to dual-boot back into the stock/retail NAND/NOR so I can get on PSN would also be a huge plus.

Firstly what model PS3 do you have? A Cobra dongle on any PS3 other than a 60gb (CECHA01/00) is good but on a 60gb it's VERY good.

Once you have downgraded to 3.55 you only need a very good backup manager called multiMAN/mmCM to play your games either from an internal or external HDD - no dongle required.

True Blue is for playing games (not all) that came out after 3.55 although most of the biggest games that came out after 3.55 can be played without the True Blue dongle like Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, FIFA 12 etc.

So depending on what PS3 you have and if you want to pay an extra premium or not then you have loads of options.

Check this thread, it should cover pretty much everything you need:

I have two PS3s:

CECHG01 running 3.65
CECHL01 running 4.11

I'll probably mod the CECHL since it will work with the E3 flasher.

Besides PS2 support on the other model you mentioned, is the Cobra "bad" for the CECHL01?

It seems like it's exactly like the True Blue or JB-King except it also adds Bluray ISO playback. Does that sound right?

No, the Cobra dongle will let you play everything in .iso form including PS1/PS3 and even PSP games and you can even stream those games via a network so it's very good even on a PS3 without PS2 playback (although you can run PS2 games using the hidden software-only emulator via the Cobra dongle but a lot of games don't run very well and you can't save your game etc.).

True Blue is different as it lets you play more games released after the 3.55 update, Cobra doesn't.

Burn ISO, insert into PS3....

On a serious note you can mount ISO on PC and stream the video over to PS3.
You can also extract the ISO ftp it over to ps3 and use showtime to play the movie, although I do not know about 3d playback using showtime.
