Wiki has been down around 16 hours ago, is not the first time that is down so i imagine it will be back soon
I need to update the pages: "PARAM.SFO", "Emulation", and "Save Games" that are affected by this "2G" game format, take a read at them later (are not updated yet) Btw...the "save games" generated by PS1 and PS2 discs can be exported to USB ? Im not talking about "PS1 classics" and "PS2 classics" (both formats are .pkg from PSN) <--- this ones can be exported to USB The weird thing... is the formats from PSN contains a subfolder (inside the install folder that never changes) with "virtual memory cards" This files are copyed to the USB when exporting the game save (2 virtual memory cards, 1 PARAM.SFO, and 1 ICON0.PNG) Obviously... this files are not in the original discs... so this means "save games" generated from discs in backward compatible PS3's cant be exported to USB ?

The most important page for me to complete is the PARAM.SFO, this "2G" category helps complete all the "categories collection", actually there are only two missing ones for the contents that can be installed in HDD, and both has things in common
One is "PSvita" (that i especulated is "VT")... but this one is a type of content that can be downloaded from PSN... and transfered to a PSvita (is not playable in PS3). For this transferable contents, the icons are inside "bubbles" in XMB The problem is PSvita compatibility has been added to the firmware over 4.00 (nothing related with PSvita will work in a cfw, neither his icons or category exists)... so there are few chances for me to get one of this PARAM.SFO to document it And the other is "PSP" (confirmed as "PP" with frankenstein files)... like the previous one this kind of content is only transferable, and is inside a bubble in XMB ----------------------- I have few hopes to find a "VT"... maybe by extracting the PARAM.SFO for one of this packages, or with a dual nand/firmware 3.55cfw/4.11ofw... but not easy for me, and the packages extractors failed when trying to extract the only one package i found of this type : NP0001-NPXS10002_00-VTSTORELIVEAREA0.pkg And with "PP" im thinking in opening another thread here in the forum, this one to find "2G" was very usefull

I'm using FMCB and OPL. The drive is a Maxtor, but official Sony drives have something written in the firmware that makes it show up in the browser, etc. I tried to find something that spoofs any drive to a Sony one, but nada.

you have to start up the ORIGINAL disc itself from the disc drive.
cd emulation software like hda/hdl/opl will block the software from accessing the hdd. and also you NEED to have a sony hdd to make it work with PlayOnline(or any other OFFICIAL ps2 hdd related software). and also you NEED a ORIGINAL copy of PlayOnline(because of the dnas disc-id check), oh and you DONT need an account to install it :P. a little info: the main executable from PlayOnline is stored encrypted with RSA on the ps2-hdd after a successfull installation. when you start PlayOnline, the RSA encrypted elf file will get decrypted from DNASLOAD.ELF which is also stored in the same partition after a succssefull installation. basicly when you click the icon of PlayOnline you are starting DNASLOAD.ELF which in turn starts/decryptes the RSA encrypted PlayOnline elf you can replace DNASLOAD.ELF from PlayOnline with any other homebrew for example, but you need to inject it into a "DVDELF.BIN" from a Ps2 console from matching region, make sure it has a disc signature(if you injected it with fmcb). and a sony drive wont show up in the "browser" either, it's the software called hdd-osd which you have to install from the hdd-utility-disc on the sony ps2-hdd, so it updates the "browser" to version 2.00. and then will display the hdd in the browser. this video shows a example from me to launch homebrew from the ps2-hdd: http://youtu.be/XtMQTV-RmMs

Do you have a ulaunchelf.elf signed as a krypto elf ?... or for being a KELF its needed to make a real installation ?
See my idea ?... i dont want to replace it for the main executable of a DVD disc (inside a PFS filesystem, inside a APA partition) The idea is to replace it in the main MBR of the first APA partition of a virtual HDD image (with no filesystem)... where the offset for "OSD" points in the first partition header Last edited by sandungas; 04-19-2012 at 02:44 AM. |

i'm sorry i dont really understand what you mean.
but yes i have a region free Magic-Gate encrypted "hacked-ule" which can be launched from the ps2-hdd. the mbr has nothing to do with booting partitions like playonline from the hdd, atleast not directly in case off the hdd-osd. the "mbr kelf/elf" is part of auto-booting the hdd-osd/psbbn from the hdd when you turn on the ps2. the ps2 gets the information about which elf it needs to start(decrypt) from the partition header, from example the playonline partition. you need to look it up on the partition in a hex editor for the "boot2" commando. the problem might be, to mount the hdd images from the ps3 so that you can replace the files properly. and also there is a difference in between mbr and mbr-kelf/elf on the ps2. more information on how booting from hdd works can be gotten from "l_oliveira" from assembler-games, he knows everything about it.

Got it, thx
I mean to replace the area where is supposed to be the OSD main executable (the application you have explained that updates the OSD) Im asking this because i have mapped around 95% of the socom VHD svenmuller uploaded, im close to be able to rebuild them (manually with a hex editor).. but there are a few offsets i still dont understand, and a APA checksum i dont know how to generate I know l_oliveira, but has been lot of time i dont talk to him, part of the idea is from what i readed he wrote |
