Has anyone been able to get LA Noire to play off of an External hard drive?

Is the large split file used for the pre-install? i put it on my external to save space on my internal HDD and it ended up using around 15Gbs on my internal anyway :/
however i hae got it booting off an external, even though it didn't actually save that much space.. |

yeah,use split4G then copy game over to external then apply the patch.
