I am planning on buying an E reader for my kid.

I was wondering which I chould get.

If I download a book, can I install it, without jailbreaking it?

The kindle fire looks nice.
I always use my tablet for ebooks and any android based device should be able to read copied books by simply installing on mem card / internal storage.
You can get very inexpensive tablets these days.

Kindle is best as far as I'm concerned.

Have tried on tablets and other E-Readers, but so far nothing has come close to the Kindle for me, and I read a Lot of books lol

Only let down for me is the FW and the way it displays folders and files, but that is sortable using other applications.

I have d'loaded a lot of books and had no problem at all yet (I refuse to buy a digitised copy of a book I own in paper/hard back lol)

If you just want it as a 'book' then go Kindle, but if you want other features then go tablet.
