hey im newer to ps3 and all, and i was wondering how to jailbreak my ps3? i have a newer one.. not a slim and i have been wanting to host a modded lobby on mw2 and blackops zombies to impress my friends. To do this do i need to bypass? and if so how do i do that.. Like can anyone give me legit downloads and everything i need to do all this without gettin banned??

First and most important for you.......

You cannot get online with a JB'd PS3

If that has not stopped you, then give FULL details of the PS3 you have ie FW version and what version your console is (CH*** etc etc etc )

are you trying to jb your ps3 if so it must be on 3.55 or below, then what patch you want 1.12 is bypass 1.11 is normal 1.12 better patches whats your psn..?

you have to have a 3.55 ps3 and you need and updat file to start with. After that u need to get a life

So if my PS3 is currently on 3.7 I need downgrade to 3.55 first? Right?

I have seen a couple of youtube videos out there where guys are saying they were able to jailbreak their PS3 running 3.7 and have a link to a file in the video description.

Is that just another scam to get you to download their password protected RAR files? I figure they are trying to drive in some ad revenue with the usual "visit our site for the password" trick.

There is no CFW or "Jailbreak" above 3.55. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.

Downgrading requires a hardware flasher, either progskeet or e3.

Thanks I appreciate the quick answer. I have a chance to buy a ps3 with a blown out blu-ray drive but it is on 3.70 and I wasn't sure if I would want it unless I could easily jailbreak it.

What about removing the hard drive and cloning an existing machine running 3.55 (or one that is already jailbroke). Anybody try that yet?

If it was that simple, we would not need hardware flashers. Heck, everyone would be running CFW.

There are two types of consoles in terms of where firmware is stored. The original fat consoles had 256mb of storage on a NAND chip. All of the firmware is stored on this chip. Later, to save money, Sony introduced consoles with NOR chips which only hold a part of the firmware and the rest is stored on the HDD.

When you remove, wipe, and reinsert an HDD on a NAND console, it will ask to format the HDD. Once done, you are still on the same firmware you were on before.

When you remove, wipe, and reinsert an HDD on a NOR console, it will ask you to insert a flash drive with whatever firmware was on it before you removed your HDD, or newer. It will not accept a lower firmware update.
