I doubt we'll ever see an open sourced dongle fw. Cobra has been out for over a year, no one was able to crack it. TB is out for a few months, then JB King already cracked it. This shows that the current scene devs are not will or able to crack these encryption. The JB2USB is supposed to the have the least security, and yet it is still not cracked. We probably won't see anything till after the PS3's EOL.

Its not that they aren't willing or able, they just cant afford it, reversing these type of devices out of your own pocket is not cheap and if you notice, the teams are not asking for donations either.

I would like nothing more than the dongles to be cracked, but people might as well give up on cracking the TB dongle. If real members of Paradox are in affiliation with the dongle, good luck cracking it. Paradox is not just some new group that popped up out of nowhere, they are a very credible warez group, and one of the few original scene release groups that originated and still around today (if not the only).

In my opinion, the only hopes at cracking the reDRM dongles, is to target one of the clones. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be any easier though.

I still can't understand why so much effort is being put into the dongles when it's the CFW and EBOOT patches etc that allows the newer games to be played.

Or have I fallen through a hole into wonderland and lost the plot on that?

I think A team of the top devs that have the time should ask for donations to help fund projects. This team would have to be well organized and keep the public up to date on all the progress. They would have so many followers witch=donations. You figure 2 dollars from 20,000 followers and that would pay for all the hardware they needed and put a paycheck in there pocket.

Look at kakaroto He is one man that has 24,000 followers. Now imagine a whole team that did daily updates and produced new aps, tool, and homebrew.

LMAO

Most developers are just doing it in their spare time, doing that what they enjoy, gaining knowledge on what they enjoy most, while sharing and releasing.

I havent seen those developers less busy/enjoying/learning/sharing/releasing in the 7 months, but yet there are insinuating people declaring 'the scene is dead/halted'

I have no idea what you mean by daily updates, but ps3devwiki has been updated for over a year now, by over 400 people - growing from 10 to 1250 pages. It even has its own git codesharing base, library and files section.

As to donations: 2 million people may get you about 100 euro, enough to pay 1/20th of the costs of a cheap analyser that is very limited for the job (and only for /that/ job).

I do not think alot of people are waiting for another AdrianC DECR/Tool scamlike situation (or even something that reeks, hints, looks like or remembers of that fiasco).

At least I know I can use my time and effort into alot better goals atm (and I don't like the idea of giving out money to dongle sellers, just to waste my time on limited goals).
