You know the ps3 scene there are always people who critique the works of developer. As proof I was attacked for everything that I have release except Rich Appearence Maker. It is even more the case as one speaks of TB. Even if you don't love TB it is useless to make a fuss.

Some owners of TB dongle are already doomed by the use of the device plus the add of the nice feature *i will erase your HDD if you use clones*.
You cannot help a potential buyer to don't buy the product he wants. Instead you can create some awareness regarding the issue.
Theres no *easy solution* out of this, since the product it's on the market and people no matter what they will buy to play.

Now, if someone achieves to crack this ****er up. It's the best thing that could happen to the scene regarding this issue/problem/etc.

The best way to help owners of TB is to provide the FACTS about the dongle, and what it represents; not by promoting the disease it has caused. Your app isn't even really the issue at hand (and I am pretty sure I speak for more than just myself here), it is what it promotes and how you "unofficially" announced it.
