NOOB QUESTIONS - PS3 GAME UPDATE FOLDER AND INTERNET

I have seen people say you should have your internet turned off on your PS3 if it is modded. Is this really true?

Also, in each game folder their is an update folder, should I be concerned leaving these files intact?

I am really paranoid about overwriting my modded firmware.

Thanks!

1.) There is no real need to keep your PS3 disconnected from the internet, if you install a firmware spoof, you should be safe from accidental updating.

2.) You can delete the updat.pup from the game folder, it isn't needed and uses up about 200MB of space, so just delete it

Make sure to have your settings in System Settings for automatic update turn off too.

you can also use as an alternative a firmware that patches all existing connections to Sony. such an example are the OTHEROS++ firmware PUPS but there are more like that.
