When you back up your PS3 flash in linux where is the file stored?

i got it saving to the desktop now i just can't write the file back
i wanted to see what happens when you change one of the vales in a hex editor sorry im talking about this command in terminal dd if=/dev/ps3flash of=flash-bak-`date +%y.%m.%d-%H.%M.%S` i think it's the otheros part thats flashed on to the ps3 not sure though
