I got one of these some years ago when FMCB first came out. It worked well.

Also there was a disk that let you transfer game saves to a flash drive and back again. I think they also used those for the independence exploit.

Recommended chips are some such as Modbo 4.0. You can install a softmod on the memory card to trick it.. installing that requires a ps2memcard to pc/ps3 adapter, or a swap magic/codebreaker like cd or a friend with an already hacked ps2 to install it.
Lastly, you can also use for instance swap magic, and the swap trick to play backups. or install/run software on the memcard.

Hello there, don't want to start new thread, just need a few answers.

I've never softmoded PS2 before, just good old chip method, so what I'm wondering about:

Is it possible to install FreeMcBoot using my chipped PS, without needing the original game disc, so I can run FreeMcBoot on another PS that is not chipped, or do I still need original disc to do it?

Thank you.

FMCB: Need already hacked system, ps2 to ps3 memcard adapter or a swapmagic-like cd to install it unto memory card.

After that memory card works on all unhacked PS2's up till version SCPH-9000x.

chipped ps2 = already hacked ps2.

If we are talking chipped PS1 here, then no. The PS1 is not compatible with PS2 memcards and thus cannot install FMCB unto the memcard.

PS2. Now I get it, I thought I need to do the same proccess as on non chipped PS2, when in fact, I just need to boot boot CD for uLaunchELF, and install FMCB from USB.

Thank you for your help.
