I have LG LCD monitor which has DVI input, presently I am connecting my ps3 in TV using AV cable. Is there any possibility to use my monitor using HDMI to DVI cable?? I tried with the cable also, I used HDMI to DVI cable and connected my ps3 to monitor using DVI input, but what I get is black screen always !! Also I have seen a video showing this as a workable method, what is wrong in my case , please help. ![]() Regards thepankajnegi |

I did this and it worked. HDMI cable connected from the PS3 to a HDMI->DVI connector.
The screen was not as good but it worked. It can be your video settings should be lower and thats why you probably get a black screen. Try this: Make sure the system is off. Hold down the Power Button for 5-6 seconds - until you hear the second beep. That's it, your video settings are reset and you should be able to choose your input and configure it from there. |

also u have to know that HDMI-DVI cable can't transmit sound, so u should have sound system fitting for ps3 sound cable or a special connector. and u will have to chage some sound settings, cause by default ps3 will still transmit sound through HDMI. I have really great Guide for HDMI-DVI connection but it's all in rus :3 Last edited by AlexBaka; 02-14-2012 at 02:24 AM. |

It has always worked fine for me. No difference in quality
HDMI is pretty much the same as DVI anyway. Your audio will need to be supplied some other way thats all

yeah, only one prerequisite - the monitor must support HDCP. Or it won't work anyway

Start it - click "check for Blue ray disc support" (not 3d). As a result on the bottom of the list there wil be - Video connection type-...with HDCP (pass) If it's not - ur monitor won't work
In case that later u will try to connect ps3 to a monitor with HDMI - don't forget to reset setting by holding power button once again. Last edited by AlexBaka; 02-14-2012 at 02:46 AM. |

I have a Samsung P2470HD monitor. Maybe my connector is not that great because I really don't have the same quality as with HDMI. Or I should change the settings of the monitor. Didn't try that because I now have another way to solve my problem. I have 3 HDMI devices but only one HDMI in port at my monitor. With a HDMI switch I solved this. Good luck. |
