Copied a game to the HDD. Now the disc drive no longer reads games.
I recently got another PS3 for the sole purpose of installing CFW (Kmeaw 3.55). I installed the CFW just fine. Then I decided that I wanted to try to rip a game to the HDD (using MultiMAN). First I tried ME3 and that worked fine. Then I tried FFXIII-2. It got to 96% and just got stuck. I was forced to cancel the ripping process.
Now the disc drive no longer reads games. This is a new PS3 which makes this issue all the more baffling. Does anyone have any idea what happened? Did the drive just fry? Or did something else go wrong? |

The fact that the first one worked fine makes me think it is just bad luck and your BD is playing up.
Try some DVD and BD films if you have them and see if it's just the BD that does not work or any disc at all? PS It may be a new PS3, but it has been a while since they came with FW 3.55 or lower so it will have been sat on shelf for quite a while. |
