Anyone who thinks Microsoft is *not* behind this is naive.

Think about it, they want to roll out the next gen console, what better excuse to drop 360 than say "The big bad courts told us to!"

360 is pwned with the RGH, they can't fix it, period. It's the CPU. They are not interested in pursuing anything Xbox360-related any more, as the console is no longer locked down. I give it one more wave of games, then it's toast. You might get another year on Live with it, then that will be gone too. Along with Media Center integration (look at the original xbox- does not work with anything higher than MCE2005) Notice how the dashboard update turned everything into an almost android-marketplace? How many of those apps/games/media services are going to work without Live?

This is why I don't support MS in any capacity. Their customers spent fortunes on machines, games, accessories, kinect, etc... And they thank you very much for your patronage, now please excuse them while they forget about you and set up their next revenue stream. They can do what they want, and I can't complain about it because I'm not a paying customer. And I'm okay with that

I love the patent war!

We have all the media companies and publishers screaming at how piracy is reducing their profits, even though sales are increasing. Yes they have had to lower prices, but that's because they were and still are charging too much for their products!

I especially like how Apple sues others who infringe their patents, but when they are being sued they claim that those patents they have infringed are in the benefit of the devices and the consumer and hence try to get the courts to place those in that special little patent section where others can use it for a highly reduced license fee.
So the patent holder loses out by having to reduce the license fee, and Apple profits from that and including it in their devices.

Anyone hear about the Kodak patent that was claimed to be too "obvious" and hence to be void, now Kodak may lose a lot of their other patents. And what does "obvious" mean in this case? :P

But what I'm trying to get at is how these companies try to talk their way out of the piracy they do, whilst at the same time condoning that of others and wanting to hunt those pirates down like dogs :P A bit hypocritical really.

First of all, most (if not all) of us enjoy Sony's product(s). If not, wtf are we doing on this site...? This does not mean that we necessarily like Sony as a company. I can see not supporting the company by not purchasing their next console, but isn't that a lose/lose? Sony loses a sale, you lose a console. A lot of people comment about not buying their next console due to how they (as a company) treated their customers this gen. I feel safe to assume that 90% of the people that say they wont buy the next gen Sony console will end up having one, so it's a mute statement.

The best scenario would be to simply purchase it used. At least then Sony as a company doesn't gain sh*t, but you can still enjoy their next gen console which will undoubtedly be great.

More on topic: If you really think this ban on the xbox 360 will happen, you might as well go buy a TB because you are a f*cking retard.

Why would Windows 8 have xbox live? If it wasnt going to be around for awhile. You would think it would be at least 3 years, since Windows 8 will be released in Oct. 2012. 3 years after its predecessor Windows 7.

I just don't think if they didn't want to pursue anything xbox360 or live related, it would not be implemented into their OS. That is not even released yet.

Oh, Live will be around for a long time. X360 support on Live, that's another thing entirely. I'd be willing to bet money that your 360 will no longer function on live early to mid 2014, about a year after 720 (or whatever they decide to call it) launches. The retail price of a new 360 is going to drop drastically very soon. A 4GB is $199 right now. It will drop to $149 by late summer. $129 by xmas. $99 by next spring, to clear out all remaining stock, and they'll have the gall to sell it alongside the new one. MS may or may not support the Kinect hardware on the next gen. I'd guess they will, technically, but they'll make Kinect2 which is somehow better, and all the new games will only use that.

Don't feel bad though; all those executives and CEOs really do appreciate the drooling masses financing their mansions and toys.

well, at least sony does the opposite of what you said, i mean, they like finally dropped support for ps2...i'm not even sure about that and psx kept going up until like late 2004 if i remember correctly.
microsoft does seem to just drop support almost instantly when their newest product comes out and it's disappointing, nintendo seems to do the same thing also. i guess nintendo is a little smart or else people wouldn't have noticed the difference between a gamecube and the wii except motion controls :P
i think the 360 will be $99 by christmas, well, like the cheapest one or something.

Where is the justice ?

i bought a new citreon ds5 the other day, gps, traffic all built into dashboard.

they knocked into my house yesterday and said they had to take that feature away, so they just took it and went off.

didn't really happen off course but if it did, citreon would be in a lot of trouble.
