PS3 fat, fan goes all speeds, after turning ON.

I got in my hands PS3 fat, CECH C03, 60 GB, 4 USBs ..... 3.70 FW, and since i have slim 3.55 CFW, i tought this could be my for online playing, just to UP it on 4.11 ....

It works fine, laser OK, ports OK, HDMI OK, AVout OK ... only 1 problem.

Its cold, not working all day.

And when you turn it on, it works minute - minute and a half at low speed, and then go faster and faster, and in 2 minutes goes to max speed, and i touch it and its still cold .... i mean, it worked only for 3-4 minutes.

I tried to format hard and restore it in factory settings, bicouse i tought maybe its something in settings left from previous owner, but it didnt help.

Is there any sensor, or something like that, or i even read somewhere that when thermal paste wore out, it could do things like that?

Any help is welcome, thank you.

Hi I have a PHAT like this and it drove me nuts until I fixed it.

This is what I did, took console apart and cleaned it and removed all the cheap thermal paste sony use and replaced with arctic silver 5 this helped but after 30 minutes fan would kick in at super sonic speed. So stripped down again and this time I drilled 4 holes about 1 inch wide in the bottom of the case just where it is flat and now no more crazy fan. I can play NFS for hours and all is quiet.
If I wasn't off on holiday I would post a picture.

You need to replace the thermal paste under the CELL & RSX heat spreaders, I've done many with the fast fan and that always fixes it.
