Help with logic board BMD-011
Hi. I hae had a PS3 sitting around for a while that needed a new logic board. Well I finally got hold of the correct board, a very rare BMD-011 board. I'm just wondering if anyone knows which chip holds the key? If any.
Thanks in advance ![]() Pete. |

There are many keys, most likely you ment marriage perconsole binding, which is handled by the SCEI CXD chip, while perconsole bound/encrypted key storage is inside the Macronix MX25L flash and the encrypted firmware is on Spansion AL008D NOR.
All pretty useless for the task, as you'll have more luck finding the 4.11 keys inside encrypted NOR/NAND flash by bruteforcing it for some million years. Even swapping the flash will be useless, as it is bound to perconsole keys (and there are over 50 million of them already in the world) and bound to the SCEi CXD internal eeprom. It is easy to remarry a 3.60 console: just downgrade to Rogerov3.1, then remarry, and after success, update console back again. I have my original logic board aswell, i can see the CXD chip. If i swap the original chip to the new board, will that do it? I'm fairly new to this stuff so all the chips and such you just mentioned are an unknown world to me at the moment. Thanks for your reply though
![]() Forgot to say i can't downgrade. I dont have a JIG, and i'm on 4.xx firmware, so remarrying isn't really an option

You have to swap the CXD controller, the encrypted firmware flash and the keyvault.
not your basic 1 chip and done, replacement. It is simpler to just replace/repair the bad board, or remarry via temporary downgrade.

Well that sucks! How do i get the other 2 chips, besides the CXD i mean? I'm pretty sure it was only the IC controller chip that was dead on my old board, wouldnt accept disks or eject. Swapped them with another but from a different board, not a BMD-011.

Im giving up on this one actually. No way of re-marrying and swapping 3 chips wont be worth the amount of surface resistors that will fall off. PS3 parts will be listed on eBay soon probably. Getting a 60GB on Tuesday anyway so no great loss. Thanks for your help though euss, much appreciated.
