Unhappy Fixing a waninkoko brick?

Hi guys, I've tried really hard to search for this before posting, but couldn't find a clear cut (contemporary) answer.

I have an old phat PS3, and I believe it's a NOR (since it's completely without PS2 capabilities).
I was one of the fools who jumped on waninkokos bricking CFW (ylod).

After reading all of the news about Progskeet and it's ability to repair the waninkoko brick, I was very interested.

Now, what I'd really like is a clear answer as to what I'll need for this. I realize that there's been a lot of talk about solderless, but I've been unable to find anywhere to purchase it, along with any sort of tutorial or walkthrough of how to ACTUALLY repair the brick fix - can anyone help me with this?

And would it be possible/easier with another flasher? like E3 for example?

If it bricked with Waninkoko's v1 CFW, then it is a NAND console. It did not brick NORs as my Slim would have been toast. Check your model/serial here to find out which one it is:
http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/SKU_Models

Last I heard, there was fix, but I am not sure whether it did or did not require a hardware flasher.

EDIT: I found this http://www.ps3hax.net/2011/10/releas...-55-and-lower/
However, the update.pup links is broken...

I don't have it with me right here, but I'm pretty sure it must be a NOR, as it didn't have PS2 mode, was 40gb and only had two usb ports, as far as I can remember - but I'll double check the serial when I get home.

Edit: (Excuse my tired eyes, I used that overview before to determine NOR/NAND, but I saw double with the two 40gb models, and didn't notice one of them was actually a NAND, it could very well be a NAND)

The fix you mention won't work, since the brick means that the USB ports don't power up at all. I'm pretty sure the only way to repair it is with a flasher, but I don't know if E3 works as well as the progskeet, and I'm unable to find proper documentation/tutorial for either. And just finding the actual product in itself is difficult, because progskeet doesn't come with the solderless tool, and I can't find it anywhere.

It's a 40 GB NAND they didn't have PS2 backwards compatibility, also Waninkoko v1 ONLY bricked Nand models. Progskeet would be the way to go, also I believe with brick fix you still need to solder wires

PS3DevWiki is a great site to find the tutorial to fix it

It has to be NAND. Waninkoko v1 was notorious for bricking NAND consoles only.
Also, that link I posted to the PS3 Devwiki shows that one version of the 40GB did indeed come with NAND:
CECHG 2x 128MB NAND 40GB

Can you unbrick from Waninkoko if you don't have a NAND backup ?

Its a Nand console because the 40gb models never had nor do to the fact that they dropped that option in 07'(anyone correct me if I'm wrong). If your Usb ports don't work it's most likely due to a hardware failure not software. So my guess is to just sell it and buy another 3.55 console

No he's correct about the USBs not working as with the Waninkoko brick it doesn't make it far enough into the boot process to enable the USBs (I know I have one) and it is possible to un-brick with the flaser by soldering a few wires to keep power to the nand while reading/flashing but I believe the E3 doesn't handle nands very well to why I suggested the Progskeet

If you want solderless you will need everything in this bundle. Also an Injectus Jtag Programmer USB adapter to program the ProgSkeet.

Here is Progskeet tutorial. I believe the way to unbrick is to make a backup and patch it, then do the downgrade process.
But like stated above, I think for brick fixing you will still have to do a little soldering.

Look on google for how to fix your USB ports cause your ports died. I believe you will have to solder two wires somewhere on the board but I don't remember. If you do use google make sure you read the whole tutorial first before working on your console.
