No matter what, but any MGS Title is better than MGS2 (The ending there is utter nonsense). And to prove my point, look at the title for Rising, another Raiden game - Seriously, Re-vengeance??? LOL

I liked the prologue (the Tank chapter). The game itself is not so bad, if you can ignore the androgynous protagonist and his annoying girlfriend

That part is the worst. They try to win sympathy for his relationship etc, but maybe its just the voice acting - but i cringed when that came up. Even in MGS4 when she aparantly see the older dude now (even though its revealed a sham later on) is the lowest point of the game.

I always presumed they were IR illuminators, so would be invisible with the naked eye, but he would stand out like a Xmas tree if a camera spotted him in the shadows or not :S

The lights on Sam Fisher's goggles actually don't exist and are only there so the player knows where Sam is at all-times. You might not be able to see him dark environments which would be a very big issue...

The same way video games still show you [the player] when you're using an ability that is supposed to make you completely invisible. Obviously they aren't going to make it so the player can't see his own character.
