There's so much to read! It's a little overwhelming. From what I can see, there's no completely solderless solution and whichever method is chosen, there needs to be traces cut, contacts bridged, the works.

Am I completely off base?

yes the de-hash caused all this.

the second hdd goes in right at the end.

just read through the guide to the end and you will understand

and agin sorry for that. i dont know how i missed that being in the dual boot part.

you just need to read the progskeet nand guide

no traces cut
and use the nand clip

i havent done the progskeet 1.2 guide yet so read and re-read the nand guide
the setting up progskeet part wont work on the new 1.2 boad though
i will get that info sorted for you tomorrow / friday if you can wait a day or 2

Bailey.. could you add in your TUT when to add the 2nd HDD? I am a little lost at this point. So this is what i am going to do.

I am going to FlashFun my original back on the ps3. Than i am going to update to 4.31ofw. Then i am going to follow your guide, but just need to know "under dual" at which point to switch HDDs. That would be really helpful.. Also thank you kindly for your help and for taking the time out to write the tut. You dont' have to apologizes perhaps in us having this conversation we just made it easier for others to follow I'll await your response.. As i'm trying to have this completed tonight ..

The HDD you are referring to here is the OFW HDD1 (the one we started off with which we just downgraded and installed CFW3.55 ON) or is this where we insert HDD2 (CFW the one we want to "use" for the CFW fast boot)? just looking for some clarification here Thanks..


7:34pm - Bailey.... As soon as i flip the CFW switch up i get the blinking red light. I completed the tutorial again from the begining, but get stuck right at the "install cfw to the E3 NOR chip" part.. CFW switch up and RLOD. If all the switches are down I am able to boot into XMB just fine. Is there a way for me to copy install the CFW to the E3 NOR chip with out using
1 down / 2 UP/ 3 down / 4 UP/ 5 down / 6 down

7:52pm - So i thought that maybe i could grab the PS3 NOR bios by simply turning off the PS3 and flipping the 3rd switch up BACKUP. Which I intended to rename bkpe3 so as to update the E3 NOR, but when I tried to bak up i got "start logging...backup PS3 BIOS.not original PS3" Is it safe to use the bkpps3.bin that i used with the E3_downgrader.bin? ? I believer if i could manually update the E3 NOR it would allow me to flip the switch from OFW to CFW and it not RLOD when its flipped to CFW

8:12pm - So after updating the E3 Flasher using the Samsung Multi update.bin. I set the 3rd switch UP and was able to back up the PS3 NOR to my TF (micro SD). Next I intend to rename the bkpps3 to bkpe3. Turn off the PS3, set all switches 1-5 down and 6 UP. In hopes that this will write the current PS3 NOR to the E3 NOR allowing me to be able to flip the CFW switch on the E3 up and not see the RLOD (****!)

9:25pm - had to manually update the e3 NOR - OK. D, D, D, D, U, D and renaming the bkpps3.bin to bkpe3.bin. Note. .log will say OK.write E3 Nor at 0x00FF0000 ... OK.read 0:bkpe3.bin at 0x00FF8000 ... OK.write E3 Nor at 0x00FF8000 ... OK.Program Nor OK. and NOT OK. Backup E3 BIOS OK..)

10:04pm - FAIL! switch to OFW boots to XMB. Switch to CFW RLOD What the HELLL!!! ugh!!!

Another question can i follow the same downgrading guide to fix ps3 with RSOD on higher update 3.56+? THANKS

Bailey - Question about this last step.. What ever is in "red" is my question. I figured it would be easier to ask you in this way..

preparing the 1 key fast swap

set the switches as
1 down / 2 down / 3 down / 4 down / 5 down / 6 down
and power on the ps3

update your ps3 to the latest firmware (this is updating the ps3's nor)
once done remove the hdd and mark as "ofw" and mark the other hdd as "3.55cfw" at this point do we put the OFW HDD back? Do we put the 3.55cfw back in? or do we continue to the next step without an HDD attached...

now goto E3 Flasher Programs folder then into files for dual booting folder then into e3_downgrade folder then put the e3_downgrade.bin file onto your micro sd card from c://e3downgrade to TF v1.2
and your origional backup bkpps3

Finally - at this point my OFW boots up, but when i add my original bkpps3 + e3_downgrade.bin I get the following error
11000100 - start logging...One Key downgrade mode.not original PS3 - my question is why is this step necessary if OFW boots just fine? why are we using the e3_downgrade.bin again? Isn't that for "downgrading?" However I just dated my OFW to the latest 4.31, why would i need to downgrade it again?.... Just for the hell of it i turned the PS3 off and flipped switch 2 up (CFW) inserted my other HDD2 and I got the RLOD again. This is only happening when the CFW switch is up.. WHY!? Did i solder the SBCE or the SBE cable wrong?? could it be that my HDDs are different brands??? i am at a lost at this point.. I can however boot to XMB with all switches down and OFW HDD in


Something is very screwy here. NO matter what I do (flash the E3 NOR make sure both HDDs have the same CFW on it) i am unable to get the E3 Flasher to light up blue when the CFW switch is up (2). The ps3 gets a blinking light shortly after

I am in no rush. I just wanted to get my ducks in a row. The ps3 I have now seems to be done for. I'll probably buy another one soon and it may be a different set up.

I made the mistake of not reading the captions. I just saw a lot of "cut this here", "solder this there" talk and my mind blanked out. As I understand it, the clip needs the cutting, not the board, to fit properly on the chip.

I wrote some stuff, but I'm going to wait for the update. Aside from NOR 1.0/1.1, soldering the Injectus is required, it seems. That's not too bad. The NOR pictures give me little heart attacks, though.

Please excuse the extreme noobness of this question. Was Givin a new progskeet today I believe it's a 1.1 since it is blue in colour I have all the bits for it. Bit of background I've been downgrading a few nor consoles lately with my e3 and im very new to progskeet like a actual noob lol.

Question do I need to get the injectus to program it or is that a 1.2 requirement only? If I don't need it from wbclich step do I start using this guide?

1.1 is already programmed, but if you need to use the nand clips you need the injectus to program with the latest bitstream.

Why did you buy progskeet 1.2 ?
